April 2017

Hello Families,
It is a common routine for children and families to read together every day. You read aloud to your child or read independently, and sometimes you even read side by side. Have you thought about writing together as a regular routine? You do not need any special materials, just paper (lined or unlined) and a pencil, pen, markers or even crayons! Young children begin the writing process with drawings, it's a great way to get the ideas flowing.Children enjoy sharing stories and what they have learned about the writing process. Over the past two years of implementing writer's workshop we have noticed many students selecting to write during choice times. We are thrilled to see the interest in writing blossom and to watch our young writer's grow.
Give it a try with your child...grab some paper and a writing tool and watch your child share the joy of writing.
There are many websites with suggestions for getting started, yet if you ask your child, they may be happy to share how they get started with writing.
Please see this link for ideas:
Have wonderful weekend. Happy Spring and HAPPY WRITING!

Outdoor Classroom Update

The new outdoor classroom has been a great addition to our outdoor education programs as well as a beautiful space for the students to explore and play. We continue to fundraise to cover the costs, as much of the materials and labor were donated, however, we still have some outstanding costs to get it completed. Visit the outdoor classroom website to see what students have been doing: A donation button will be added in the next few days if you'd like to contribute to the costs of getting it completed!
